About

Ainna Flaminia is an Illinois Registered Nurse and alum from the UIC College of Nursing. She currently works as a Clinical Research Nurse at the UIC College of Medicine, in the division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. During her bedside nursing experiences, she felt restricted in her ability to educate and alleviate the barriers to care that patients faced. She was drawn to the MCH program to further build skills and capacity to improve health at a systems level.

Prior to working in pediatric bedside and adult outpatient nursing, Ainna volunteered as an educator with Peer Health Exchange and taught comprehensive health workshops to Chicago Public School high school students and found joy in teaching others. She is also actively involved in the AAPI community and hopes to make information more readily accessible by becoming a scholar of the people (Iskolar ng bayan in Filipino). Her current public health interests include reproductive health and education, birth justice, and school health.

Fun Fact- Outside of work, she can be found tending a garden of native Midwestern plants and making friends with local pollinator insects.
