About

Sara Cook is a first-year student in the Master of Public Health Student in the Community Health Sciences division with a concentration in Maternal and Child Health. Sara worked as a Certifying Health Professional for the CEDA Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program for over 5 years, where she provided nutrition assessment and counseling to children aged 0-5 and pregnant and postpartum women. She also provided lactation counseling to WIC clients in this role, and is a Certified Lactation Counselor. Sara currently works as a pediatric clinical dietitian at Shriners Hospital in Chicago.

Sara's areas of interest within maternal and child health include perinatal, infant, and child health and nutrition including breastfeeding protection and support. As a registered dietitian and lactation counselor, Sara would like to focus her professional efforts on reducing infant and maternal mortality rates, increasing national breastfeeding rates, and improving breastfeeding support in the workplace.

Fun Fact- Sara once won a hula hoop contest at a baseball game!
