UIC School of Public Health students, alumni and faculty were presented with awards and scholarships during National Public Health Week at a ceremony April 8. There were two maternal and child health awards that were given out, the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Student Research Award and the Dr. Sharon Telleen Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Award.

Congratulations to Sara Wiseman, MCH, MPH Candidate for receiving the MCH student research award and Kathleen Vetter, MCH, PhD candidate for receiving the Dr. Sharon Telleen MCH award!  We are very proud of you!

Maternal and Child Health Student Research Award
The Maternal and Child Health Award is presented annually to one graduate student (MPH or MS) enrolled in the Maternal and Child Health program (MCHP) or the Maternal and Child Health Epidemiology program who prepares and presents a poster at the annual SPH Student Research Forum and Awards Day. A panel of judges composed of MCHP current faculty members determine the candidate who will receive the award. This is an award of $250 that is funded by the MCH fund.

Dr. Sharon Telleen Maternal and Child Health Award
The Dr. Sharon Telleen Maternal and Child Health Award is an award of $1,000 that will be given annually to a doctoral student enrolled in the Maternal and Child Health programs at the School of Public Health at the University of Illinois at Chicago who is completing their dissertation research. There will be a committee that will determine the doctoral student who will receive the award.
