Hi all! I was recently introduced to this blog on Language Tips.
The blog includes Weekly Language Usage Tips on grammar, spelling, usage, and other issues relevant to formal writing. Below is a list of resources and ways you can help:
FEMA
Federal Aid Programs for State of Alabama Disaster Recovery-Outline of federal assistance for individuals and families and How to Apply.
DisasterAssistance.Gov
Take an anonymous questionnaire to obtain information and apply for the most accurate list of disaster forms of assistance for which you may be eligible.
Alabama Association of Nonprofits is asking non-profits who have been impacted by the storm to post their needs on AANSocial. If you are a non-profit that has extra resources you can also post these to this site.
Alabama Poverty Project has a list of partners in many areas around the state that are coordinating local efforts to assist those who have been displaced or affected in some other way by the storms.
American Red Cross
Mid-Alabama Region – To make an online donation or find other ways to help victims in Alabama.
Greater Birmingham Ministries will be distributing and receiving donated goods this Saturday, April 30th from 9AM – 2PM in the organization’s parking lot located at 2304 12th Avenue North, Birmingham to distribute clothing, food, water. Ways to help: (1.) Donate items – clothing, underwear, socks, non-perishable food items, bottled water
(2.) Donate prepaid VISA cards for those that need to purchase medicine or other items not donated. (3.) Make a donation to: Greater Birmingham Ministries, 2304 12th Avenue North, Birmingham, AL 35234 and note “tornado victims relief”.
Life South is coordinating a blood drive beginning Friday, April 29th at 8:00AM in the parking lot of Ace Bowling Center in Montgomery, AL.
The Governor’s Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives
The Governor’s Emergency Relief Fund is designed to provide assistance to individuals and organizations with recovery costs that are a direct result of a disaster or emergency.
