MPH in Maternal and Child Health

About

Danita worked as health budgeting researcher for the Studies in Poverty and Inequality Institute where she focused on gender budgeting research. At the beginning of 2022, Danita started an initiative called 'Totes 4 Tots'. The aim of the initiative is to help improve newborn health outcomes. She sells bags that are locally made in Sierra Leone and she uses the revenue to purchase essential newborn supplies for baby bags for disadvantaged mothers in Freetown. Danita is interested in integrated health systems approach to maternal health and community involvement in maternal health data collection. In the future, Danita would like to work for a non-profit or build her own initiative that focuses on creating more community-centered approaches to improving maternal healthcare in developing countries. She would also be interested in working as an academic and teaching maternal-health related courses.

Fun fact- Danita has a YouTube channel called Dani's Academic Corner where she talks about various things that concern navigating the academic journey. She also can bake a really good banana bread!
