While obtaining her undergraduate degree, Sydney worked as a volunteer crisis counselor with an organization called Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands. Her primary roles were emergency hotline operator and hospital advocate. Upon completing her undergraduate degree Sydney worked as a clinical research assistant for the All of Us research study at Rush University Medical Center. The study aims to build a database of diverse health information that can be used to inform future research studies. Sydney worked in recruitment, data collection and management, and study retention. During this time she also volunteered with the organization, Access Living. She worked as a mentor to young adults with varying disabilities, assisting them to set and achieve personal goals. Currently, Sydney is interning with the Illinois Department of Public Health focusing on project management and enhancement.
Sydney is passionate about developing data-driven interventions to encourage healthier pregnancies, safer childbirth, and improved childhood development. Her goal is to use data to advocate for inclusive policies that address the unique needs of children with disabilities, ensuring they receive the care and opportunities they deserve.
She has a background in clinical research, which has shaped her understanding of health data and medical advancements. However, Sydney's career interests are broad and evolving. She is interested in pursuing a role as an epidemiologist with a specialization in maternal and child health. Additionally, she is passionate about pediatric health and data analytics, as Sydney believes data-driven insights can significantly enhance the care and well-being of children. She ultimately aims to combine these interests to contribute to meaningful advancements in both maternal and pediatric health.
Fun Fact: Sydney adopted a French bulldog named Frank this summer!
