Lydia Sydnor

MPH in Maternal and Child Health Epidemiology

Pronouns: She/Her/Hers

About

For the last two years, Lydia has worked at Pediatric Urgent Care as a Medical Assistant and Phlebotomist. Her role as an MA allowed her to see maternal and child health issues firsthand in her community. Lydia has also worked as an intern during her undergraduate years for Children's National Hospital in Washington, D.C. While at Children's National, Lydia completed research and data analysis on childhood opportunity and healthcare outcomes in the DMV area. Her team developed effective policies to address numerous childhood disparities within the surrounding community in the Children's National Annual Community Benefit Report. Lydia is interested in studying how communities of women and children are vulnerable and affected by their surroundings and demographics. She is also interested in studying fertility rates among these communities and their correlation. After graduating with her MPH Lydia wants to work as a knowledgeable epidemiologist, specifically for women's prenatal care and fertility. She wants to explore and research how women's fertility and demographics relate, eventually opening health centers to address fertility issues in high-risk communities.

Fun fact- Lydia has 8 siblings!
