About

Izziah Thabath is a second-year MPH student in the Community Health Sciences division with a Maternal and Child Health concentration. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Gender and Health from the University of Michigan in 2021. Izziah’s educational background includes pre-medical coursework and gender studies, and she is particularly passionate about racial disparities in maternal mortality in the U.S. and interventions that are being implemented to minimize these disparities.

Currently, Izziah works as a graduate assistant for the Urban Medicine program at the UIC College of Medicine and also as a student intern for CityMatCH, a national organization of urban MCH leaders. Her professional goals are to become a physician that engages in macro-level public health work to promote health equity for all.

Fun fact: Izziah loves going to concerts; as of 2023, she has been to 22 concerts (and counting)!
